10. Put your hand on your hip to look better in a photo
There are other things you can do to combat those dreaded pounds that accumulate in the camera lens if you want to take pictures. You can choose a better shooting angle, like from above, which eliminates the bulk of your body and makes you look slimmer. You should also adjust the brightness of your shot. Don’t pose in places that cast shadows, which will further overpower your body shape. You could experiment by taking pictures from different angles, if you don’t know how to adjust the light, so that you can choose your best shots later. However, you should avoid taking pictures from too high. This will give the impression that you have cobbled together a shot yourself, which is not very natural.
9. Opt for straight or flared jeans
To look slimmer, choose your new pair of jeans carefully! Bootcut, straight, flared, skinny, cropped, high waist or low rise, jeans can transform every body type. The key is to find a model that will enhance your body. Whether you have wide hips, a shapely butt, generous thighs or a longer body shape, it’s important to try on more than one pair of jeans/pants to find the one that best suits your body. Having trouble finding the right balance? We give you a hand by presenting you the most flattering models:
- the flare jean that lengthens the legs
- the jeans with pockets on the buttocks that slim the hips
- the split hem jeans that reveal part of the ankle, while lengthening the legs
- straight jeans that hug the thighs and leave room for the calf
8. Pants with a higher rise
Low-rise pants have returned, despite our best efforts to avoid them. And if that’s your thing, go ahead and do it. Low-rise pants, on the other hand, are not your friend if you want to appear leaner and taller. They not only make your body look longer and your legs appear shorter, but they also make your stomach appear larger and flow out of the waistband even if you have a very flat stomach. Low-rise pants are notoriously difficult to dress up for length or svelteness. See how different my body looks in low rise versus high rise jeans in the photograph above. To get this lengthening effect, I recommend wearing a mid-rise pant at the very least.
