Flaky Nutella Tree Pastry

A very nice snack, very simple and very quick to make for the Christmas holidays!

If you don’t like Nutella and other spreads, many other toppings are possible: melted chocolate, speculoos paste, lemon curd, caramel spread, jam, spices, peanut butter, compote, praline… The possibilities are endless and that’s what’s great about this recipe, you can really adapt it to your taste and your desires .

 


NUTELLA FLAKY CHRISTMAS TREE RECIPE

1. INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 puff pastries
  • A small jar of chocolate/hazelnut spread
  • 1 egg for the gilding
  • Some elements for decoration (smarties, m&m’s, dragibus, chocolate…)
  • Powdered sugar for finishing (optional)

2. ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT:

  • A pastry brush
  • A baking sheet covered with baking paper

3. Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C
  2. Unroll the first puff pastry, keeping it on the baking sheet
  3. Spread the spread over the entire surface (don’t skimp on the quantity or it will be too dry) and cover with the second puff pastry

  1. Using a knife, cut the pastry* to form a tree

  1. Cut out strips of dough on both sides (keeping the center intact)

  1. Gently roll up each strip to make a twist

  1. Using a pastry brush, coat the entire tree with the beaten egg

  1. Bake for 15 to 30 minutes until golden brown
  2. Let it cool down (or eat warm, it’s even better!)
  3. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and decorate as you wish.

TIPS-SUGGESTIONS:

  • Use the dough scraps to make twists
  • Enjoy your twists with a glass of milk, a return to childhood is guaranteed 😉
