 6. Consuming dairy products

Milk, cheese and yogurt should be reduced or better still avoided altogether during your period. Dairy products contain a lot of arachidonic acids which can cause cramps. As an alternative to cow’s milk, you can use vegetable milk such as almond or coconut milk.

7. Giving in to the sweet or salty craving

Just before or during your period, it is quite normal to have an increased appetite for sweet and salty foods. This is caused by low levels of serotonin, which makes you crave sugars and carbohydrates such as crisps. So be careful and snack on fruit and vegetables rich in minerals and vitamins instead.
